What motivates your company?
It’s really two things that motivate our company. It’s our love of all things real estate and helping our clients achieve their goals. Real estate is one of the biggest investment’s individuals make – helping someone realize their dream of a new office space, a new home or providing relief to an investor through property management is what makes us get out of bed each morning.
Tell us about your location
We are headquartered in Augusta, GA and are excited about our expansion to other areas around the state. Our newest office is located in Effingham County which is a fast-growing area in the state with the deepening of the port in Savannah, GA and the T-SPLOST dollars being invested into our transportation infrastructure. We have a total of 32 team members between our two locations and offer services in commercial real estate sales and leasing, residential real estate sales and leasing and property management.
Tell us a bit about your customers
We serve three main types of clients: residential home buyers/tenants, commercial buyers/tenants and investor/landlords. If you are looking for a new home to buy or lease, we have agents and property managers that can assist you in finding the perfect location. If you are a business needing to sell your property or move into new property, we have an experienced team ready to meet your needs. Our team holds designations in CCIM, SIOR and CPM which provides us access to a national network of top talent around the country for whatever your needs are. Lastly, if you are an investor/landlord we know how stressful managing your own properties can be. We take that burden off of our clients and manage their properties for them.
Share the history of your company
Sherman & Hemstreet is one of the Southeast’s oldest real estate companies, founded in 1924, and one of the region’s leading real estate firms for commercial and residential sales and leasing. In addition to sales and leasing, we have one of the largest property management portfolios in the southeast consisting of over 7,000 units and over 10 million square feet of commercial space. Our professionalism and expertise are simply unmatched.
How are you involved with your customers and community?
We recently purchased and renovated an 18,000 sq ft historic building in downtown Augusta, GA and had an open house inviting both our clients and community in to visit with us. We are proud to be investing in the community and aligning ourselves with the growth are area is seeing. Our team works with our clients through planning & zoning challenges, architecture, engineering and construction planning, repairs and renovations, and negotiate for their best interest in all things.
In the community we are proud to support many community non-profits with our time, talent and treasure. We believe in giving back and helping others. We also support the business community through our membership and participation in local Chamber of Commerce programs.
Tell us about your employees
Our professional team consists of both commercial and residential specialists. Both types of agents are required to stay abreast of the most current technologies and continuing education. Many of our commercial brokers hold the CCIM and SIOR designations, which are the most prestigious in the real estate community one can obtain. Our property managers hold the CPM designation and have the most training and experience of any in the area. Whether it’s a shopping center, office building, warehouse, single-family house, or homeowners association we are the local property management experts.
What makes you excited to work here?
Our team is excited to share our knowledge and expertise with our community and clients. Our goal is to serve as best as we can and set an example for other businesses to do so as well. Sharing the old and the new in real estate with our clients is exciting because each property tells its own story.
What do you like about your community and location?
We love being in the city center of our community. Our office location showcases the investment we have made to work, live and play in our growing downtown. We want to see others do the same. By placing ourselves in the business district of the community we are able to stay abreast of current events and be accessible to our clients and neighbors.
How do you embody Authentic Georgia?
Many of us are “homegrown” – meaning we have called Georgia home since our birth – much like our company has. Sherman & Hemstreet has called Georgia home since 1924. Our company is comprised of people who serve on the school PTO, coach little league, and support other local businesses from doctors and accountants, to restaurants and entertainment. We are Authentic Georgia because as a real estate team it is our job to represent and promote Georgia well. We do our job by getting involved and setting an example.

Georgia is currently one of the fastest growing states in the country. Our business-friendly environment, tourism/hospitality, affordable home pricing, job growth and the list goes on.
