Amy’s Green Cleaning Products

Going green to get clean.

What motivates your company?

What motivates our company is our passion for creating a healthy environment in your home (clean air and non-toxic environment), as well as protecting the environment outside your home (protecting the watersheds).
Our mission is: “At Amy’s Green Cleaning Products, we are intent on providing nontoxic, environmentally friendly, sustainable cleaning products that actually work. Our goal is to preserve clean water, clean air, and a clean environment from this moment forward.

We Tell us about your location

We create green cleaning products in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia is a special place where we have chosen to raise our family and start our businesses. It is nestled between Cleveland, Helen and Clarkesville. We are honored to be a part of this beautiful community and to call it home.

Tell us a bit about your customers

Our customers are people who care about the environment, their families, and the planet’s health.
We also reach those who have tried to clean with other non-toxic, cleaning products, and found the cleaners did not clean very well at all. Most of our early customers were people who used our green cleaning company, and then started buying our cleaning products. Now, we are online worldwide, and we also sell our products in several retail locations throughout Georgia.

Share the history of your company

I am a proud mom of three young men. After staying home with them during their early years, I decided to go back to work, and I wanted to find something that would allow me to be home when they came home from school.

I started helping a friend of mine clean houses, and on my first day with her, she gave me a variety of cleaning products and sent me to my first house to clean.
I went into the master bathroom, and noticed the tub needed a lot of ‘elbow grease’ so I started there. I took one product from the bucket and sprayed it down. I took another product and sprayed that on too, for ‘extra cleaning power’. I got down on my hands and knees and began to scrub. I suddenly noticed that I had just made a chemical reaction! Smoke started to rise, and my hands were burning. I got up and ran from the room. My head was pounding and the hairs in my nose were singed. I was dizzy, nauseated and my heart was racing. That was the moment that would motivate me in everything I do today.

Within a year I had my own green cleaning service. I quickly learned that many of the commercial, “eco-friendly” cleaning products had very little cleaning power, and after investigating further, I also discovered they were not truly environmentally safe. (Cleaning products on the market today are not required to list all of their ingredients.) So, I developed my own non-toxic cleaning products which contain pure, essential oils (no perfumes) and all natural ingredients that are listed on every bottle (and they actually clean!) to use in my cleaning company. This was the beginning of Amy’s Green Cleaning Products!

Launching our first four products was a labor of love. We were able to field test them for three years in our cleaning service before we launched them to the public. We found they performed better than anything we had ever used, and we have lab tested them for true quality. With confidence and a fantastic team, we began selling our cleaning products on our online store. We quickly started selling locally in Sautee Nacoochee, Cleveland, and Clarkesville, and just recently started selling in Vidalia, and Americus.

January 19, 2019 we will be celebrating our first year since launching our first four green cleaning products. On a side note, I became Aromatherapy Certified during our first year and created a new line of personal care products, which we also sell on our online store. We look forward to launching our next 4 cleaning products before the end of the year.

How are you involved with your customers and community?

Our involvement with our customers and community happens through local trade shows, social media, and a monthly online newsletter. We find that educating the public on the importance of creating a healthy home is important to so many, especially those who have young children, who are elderly, or for those who may suffer from allergies, chemical sensitivities, or respiratory problems. It is with great passion that we reach out to our community and potential customers to help raise awareness about toxic chemicals in our homes, and the damage it does to our lungs and bodies after years of using them. We also support our local watershed through The Georgia Water Coalition, because we have found that what we put down the drain goes straight back into the environment we live in.

Tell us about your employees

We have an amazing team at Amy’s Green Cleaning Products. Everyone involved with our company believes in our mission, loves and uses our products, and they have put in a lot of sweat equity because they truly understand our mission. Since we are in the early stages of our company, most of our employees work with us part time, and have other jobs. We have a micro biologist that tests our products to make sure they do exactly what we say they do; a marketing team that helps create labels, optimizes our website, does our social media, and creates our monthly newsletter; a sales team who works to get our products on the shelves of local businesses around Georgia, and stays on top of our online sales; a chemist who helps me to develop quality products that stay blended and meets our environmental standards; and, of course, I create and mix each and every product.

What makes you excited to work here?

I have a new found love for mixing and creating products that support a healthy lifestyle. Working with essential oils is not just about the aroma, these oils have healing and germ and fungal fighting properties that also are wonderful for you to breathe. When I had the horrible chemical reaction that got me on this journey, I actually did some damage to my lungs, and killed many brain cells (not to mention the carcinogens I put in my body that could lead to horrible illnesses).
The products I have created do just the opposite. When you breathe them you are absorbing amazing properties that make you feel great, and help your body fight off bacteria and other germs that can cause an imbalance in your system.
These products have given me a platform to help raise what I consider to be extremely important awareness. Everyone who tries our products also has an opportunity to learn how to better care for themselves, their families, and the environment.

What do you like about your community and location?

This community is so supportive of our mission. Our local chamber has been incredible at helping us to be successful, and also to network with other businesses in our area. I love living in a small community. We also have our green cleaning service in this community and I feel it has given our product line the launch it needed to get up and running.

How do you embody Authentic Georgia?

I feel our company is authentically Georgia, because my husband and I are both from Georgia, we are raising our family here, we created our business here, and we care about this state. I also feel we are authentically small-town USA, starting our company with what we had, and growing into what we have now.
Being “authentic” means everything to me, which is why my name is on every bottle we create. I am proud of the products, and every drop that goes into them.

What makes Georgia so special and unique?

This Georgia girl loves this state because it has it all. We have the coast, lake, rivers, mountains, we even have a mini grand canyon! I love every thing about his beautiful state. When I travel south I look for pecan tree orchards and cotton fields. When I travel to the coast, I love roaming our islands. When I am up north, it’s all about the water falls and mountain views. I was born in Columbus, grew up in Atlanta, moved to Gainesville for high school and college, and settled in Sautee to raise my children. I also feel so blessed to have created two companies that support the watersheds and communities in Georgia.
